It's time for another State of the Characters meme! A place to reflect on what our characters are up to, and what else they might need to help them flourish. I'm also going to include a section for brainstorming new characters, if anyone is thinking of picking up another (or two... or three...), since the ✨season finale✨ of the current metaplot is coming up soon, and could be an easy entry point for new lil dudes.

Anything you need OOCly: I keep thinking about doing a mission to find other unicorns but have been holding off because he would probably leave with them. But maybe that could be a fun idea? Idk!
Wanted lines: Good-aligned characters (another unicorn?) or another connection (he has one open!).

FORMS: Bracken Hemming
What they've been up to/what their current mental state is/what they're gonna be up to in the coming weeks:
- his & briar's relationship continues to improve, he's proud of the baby wolves, he has 24/7 access to broderick, a blue cat won't stop following him around, he feels freer than he literally ever has — everything's coming up bracken ✨ (except then i was reminded about the metaplot LMAO oops see below)
- self-worth is as always an uphill battle, however. WHATEVER IT'S FINE. also a big man with even bigger feelings but inadequate words to articulate them, pls stand by while he continues to fumble.
- (he's still an anxious mess just in case that wasn't clear. he's doing BETTER and maybe even WELL but he's spent well over 30 years internalizing the bad stuff so it's a tough mindset to break lmao)
- i forgot this part: the "cadmus is actually an unethical prick and this place is built on toothpicks" situation is making him VERY UNCOMFORTABLE because he was starting to feel stable for the first time in a long time and the teleportation means he can visit his daughter waaay more than twice a year — he doesn't want to stay and get trapped, he doesn't want to lose those benefits, and he ALSO doesn't want to leave whoever may still be trapped to stay trapped. it's one big confounding mess.
- coming soon? telling his people that he has a daughter was The Big Hurdle for him and now he's finding his footing there, i need to figure out some more mess for this boy. maybe we'll let him study for the GED, maybe he'll find a passion for pickleball, who knows. i need to have a think about where he's headed.
- also possibly coming eventually: rin and i are discussing a hemming pack plot. :x (don't let the phrasing fool you, 100% not just for wolves)

What they've been up to/what their current mental state is/what they're gonna be up to in the coming weeks: Asher has gotten roughly 80% of my focus in the last month, a month which included: several missions of varying personal success rates; getting his friend possessed by an angry ghost; Maya figuring out his big old curse secret; him confessing his big old curse secret to Broderick; and
absolutely defeating a punk rock werewolfhooking up with Maya :)Anything they need ICly: No because things have been all about Asher lately and in April he's going to take a more supporting role! Except if/when he connects with wolves+, a thing that will not be something he starts. He's also got one more big plot beat coming up soon!
Anything you need OOCly: Please if he can help your characters out, I'd like him to take a little more of a backseat for a bit!

What they've been up to/what their current mental state is/what they're gonna be up to in the coming weeks: In theory she's probably graduating in May, so I should really maybe be consistent about any of her schoolwork? Except lmao nah. I picked up a character with a job I do not understand and a major I could not have had, please don't mind ALL the handwaving that goes with that. She's kind of just bopping along! I AM planning to make April more of a Cinder month, and really ought to start writing up stuff for her upcoming mission...
Anything they need ICly: Honestly, I need some friendships for her :( The last batch of activity took away some of her folks and now I don't feel like she's very connected to things.
Anything you need OOCly: I'm not jumping in much on this particular metaplot BUT I think I'd like to get Cinder involved in something more overarching. Which is a vague request but I would appreciate some help there <3

What they've been up to/what their current mental state is/what they're gonna be up to in the coming weeks: Richard had his Turquoise experience in the float tank and is feeling a little responsible for that.

Anything else?: This is probably the character I’m kinda waffling on whether I want to keep them here past the coup. In many ways I could see them feeling like ‘that was fun for a bit, time to go have fun elsewhere now’. They just don’t feel that connected right now, I’m not sure.

What they've been up to/what their current mental state is/what they're gonna be up to in the coming weeks:
- In general pretty good!! He's feeling like he and Bracken are inching closer to normal, which has made a world of difference in just how he feels day to day. He has some friends! He loves his apartment! He loves being a boss!!
- He is LESS pumped about all the maybe getting put in snowglobes thing. Some of the stress is because he doesn't want to be in that situation and doesn't want all these people he cares about in this position (particularly Keda, since she has prior experiences with getting trapped), but part of it is just annoyance at things being shit. Can't they have nice things??
- Continually trying to think of any new things to try for the bitten wolves. Continues to be kind of stressed out about Byron's feelings 😭 pls love yourself more. Also, worried about Broderick because of possession and dead husbands. Bests pls take care of yourselves. VERY excited about Bracken and Broderick being more date-y
- There's a 💍 in the future when things calm down and they're not afraid for their lives
Anything they need ICly: For all his loved ones to have an easier time!! And to take care of themselves. And also for their boss to not be evil, sigh (he's fine).Anything you need OOCly: Nope!! I'm always very happy to help people move along their plots though -3-

What they've been up to/what their current mental state is/what they're gonna be up to in the coming weeks: Maya led a successful mission! She had her first transformation that wasn’t painful (thanks Hyacinthe!). She and Asher are having a good time together.

Anything you need OOCly: I’d say I’m mostly happy with the amount of connections she has but she’s very friendly so we can always expand that further out.

He's always been a follower, and I have never really planned a big arc or anything beyond Leeds growing more confident and having People. So not really? Happy with him being a fun sidekick character.

I wouldn't mind more connections once new people come in since he's lost a few of them!

If anyone DOES want to do some sort of grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-nephew/niece or whatever, I'm down! He's never really even thought of his family so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ or if you want to be connected to the Big Bad Witch who cursed him into a demon cocktail, that's cool too.

T B Q H I never know what to do with Barbie and the novelty of this "joke" character has worn a little thin. While I do like her a lot, I might also write her off to do great things. I think getting her fake car fixed would be a fun thing to do.

What they've been up to/what their current mental state is/what they're gonna be up to in the coming weeks:
- As an entire person? Pretty good, thank you! Largely content, developing meaningful relationships, observing other people's meaningful relationships like a gossipy wretch with a jumbo theater-style popcorn, learning growing etc.
- The current situation, specifically? Hating it. Prickly and uncomfortable and generally super discontent with the idea that she's potentially back in another (roomier, she'll admit) cage. Or that anyone else is in that sort of situation for the first time. Much better company this time around, on the whole. Certainly. But. C'mon, man. Really? There's no reason to behave in this manner.
- Probably going to have to speak to her mother at some point, but such is life.
Anything they need ICly: To not be put in a snow globe, please.Anything you need OOCly: Less classes this semester = more brain hopefully! So if anyone needs/wants anything!

What they've been up to/what their current mental state is/what they're gonna be up to in the coming weeks: She's just getting to know everyone and is a little surprised by the sudden management is evil of it all. She's letting the people who have been here longer deal with that while she does the job she came here to do -- forge & go on missions.
Anything they need ICly: Everything, probably, she's just getting to know everyone. HQ department bonding? Mission bonding? Everything, please.
